Flight Log - 2014-07-05 - Steve Lindeman's Disc-A-Soarus (R.I.P.)

A spool rocket made from a 6" BT-50 tube with 2 CD's attached.

Flight Date: 2014-07-05
Rocket Name: Disc-A-Soarus (R.I.P.)
Flyer's Name: Steve Lindeman
Motors: D12-3
Wind Speed: 8.00 mph
Launch Site: JMRC-M.I.S./Graves Farm Campground

Finally got to fly this on a D motor. Wobbled a lot on the way up but nice and high compared to the 18mm flights. Spool again went into its end for end spin and drifted back close to the LCO table and was caught by a club member who accidentally squashed the center tube because it was still hot. Will need to make a new tube as the prism wrap was melted as well.

Footnote: This flight was with the double CD's on each end but due to being caught was unable to find out if they would hold up better than the single version. After getting home I dropped it on the floor and broke the double disk on one end so had to completely rebuild. Thinking about adding a parachute to reduce disk breakage as I'm cracking or breaking one on every flight.
