Flight Log - 2012-04-15 - Mike Wurtz's Vanguard Eagle

The first Dr. Zooch kit I've built and flown, and my favorite out of his list. Really cool looking rocket, great build and great instructionsl. Two stage rocket where you can actually see the venting of the exhaust gasses through the engine bells, and the first stage drops off before the second stage begins to ignite and lift-off. Highly recommend this kit to anyone with some more advanced building skills

Flight Date: 2012-04-15
Rocket Name: Vanguard Eagle
Kit Name: Dr. Zooch - Vanguard Eagle {Kit}
Flyer's Name: Mike Wurtz
Motors: C6-0/B6-6
Wind Speed: 10.00 mph
Launch Site: MDRA Redglare XII

First flight with the eagle, unpainted sadly. Loaded up with a C6-0 and a B6-6 for the second stage. Went up nice and straight, unfortunately when the booster separated the sustainer took-off slightly sideways. The seperation of the sustainer from the booster on this rocket is really cool. You can actually see the exhaust gasses venting out the engine bells. Wasn't able to find the sustainer stage, but was later came back from orbit and was brought back to me by Dr. Zooch himself. Awesome rocket!
