Flight Log - 2015-03-28 - Matthew Bond's Estes Monarch (New Version)

Nice looking basic 3FNC with swept fins.  Estes decided to re-use the name of an older rocket for some reason.  Kind of looks like a sleeker Big Bertha, or mayby a beefed up Scamp?  Your guess is as good as mine.  Either way, a BT-55 body tube, with an 18mm motor mount translates into nice smooth flights that you can keep in sight.

This rocket was one of three that I constructed in a hotel in Tucson, AZ while on a business trip and was flown at the annual 2 day Desert Heat launch put on by the Southern Arizona Rocketry Association.

Flight Date: 2015-03-28
Rocket Name: Estes Monarch (New Version)
Kit Name: Estes - Monarch {Kit} (007214)
Flyer's Name: Matthew Bond
Motors: C6-5
Wind Speed: 3.00 mph
Launch Site: Desert Heat 2015

Second flight of the new Monarch, and another textbook mission.  Great boost, smooth and straight.  Good chute deployment at apogee, and minimal drift during the descent although it took along time to come down and just seem to hang or even climb in the thermals.  Moderately short recovery walk to the far edge of the field, no damage.
