Flight Log - 2018-10-28 - Matthew Bond's Estes Mega Der Pink Max

Estes upscaled Red Max Pro Series II kit.  Added an eyebolt to the top centering ring and replaced the shock cord with 20 feet of braided Kevlar.  Added some balsa "dams" to the motor mount which allowed me to pot the TTW fin tabs in epoxy where they attached to the motor mount.  Currently using a kevlar heat shield and a 30 inch Spherachute for recovery.  Rocket was initially flown "nekkid", but final colors will be pink with a purple nosecone and "Der Pink Max" decals from Stickershock.

One last demon to exorcise on this day.  I prepped the surviving Mega Max and loaded up the same motor case that had been along for the destruction of the Mega Red and took it to the rail.  Nice boost, straight and loud off the rail.  there were definitely sparks in the exhaust plume, but somehow the 29mm Skidmarks just don't have the propellant mass to be that effective.  Still a nice straight boost and good separation at apogee.  Good descent under the Jolly Logic Chute Release with a perfect chute deployment at 500 feet.  Landed on the field with no damage.  Turned out to be my last flight of the day as the thought of a 5 hour drive home finally got me packed up and on the road.  This is an awesome flying field, with some very welcoming landowners, and I hope the relationship and event continues to prosper.
