Flight Log - 2018-09-08 - Matthew Bond's Apogee Mini Condor 001

13mm Boost Glider with unique plastic molded wing joint that gives both a fixed dihedral angle to the balsa wings, but also sets the incident angle of the entire wing when it is attached to the fuselage boom, greatly simplifying both construction and trimming.  Standard boost pod arrangement with a molded plastic glider hook.

Second contest flight for A Boost Glider.  First flight for this particular glider.  Of the two Apogee Mini-Condors I build this one was not quite as well trimmed when I finally got the wing unit attached so I had been using the other glider exclusively.  Decided I needed some flight time on both gliders so I prepped this one.  Tried to angle the launch rod a little more aggressively to counteract the pitch over from the glider after motor burnout.  Nice boost off the rod, the stack straightened up under boost, and then continued pitching over during coast.  Glider was essentially on its back, horizontal at ejection.  Good separation from the boost pod, glider lost some altitude when it looped under to an upright orientation.  Very nice glide, seemed to find some weak lift a couple of times and just hang in place.  As it got lower I noticed that it would occasionally slow down to a stall and the nose would drop.  landed on the grass for a 66 second duration, just a few second longer that the other glider.
