Flight Log - 2019-09-07 - Matthew Bond's Apogee Heli-Roc

Classic helicopter recovery design where the blades are fixed to the exterior of the rocket, and held down during boost with a burn string.  13mm powered.

Launch Site: SEARS

Originally built before NARAM 60, but not flown until now, had a hard time getting the elastic burn string tight enough to hold the blades flat.  Eventually got it “close enough”.  Decent boost, nice and straight with a bit of a wobble from the blades not laying evenly along the rocket.  Good blade deploy and spin up at apogee, rocket descended inverted, blades first, but still spinning pretty balanced without much rocking.  Did not time the flight, estimated duration 25-35 seconds.  Sod landing, no damage.  One of the blade hinges bent slightly under tension, allowing that blade to sit at a much higher angle than the other two.  Not sure if/how to correct.
