Flight Log - 2015-02-16 - Ken E. Coyote's Rocketarium Hexagon (Modified)

Rocketarium Hexagon with custom added upper deck "alien cockpit" and lights for the full UFO effect.  Still in development, but going well and near finished.  Upper deck is created to allow use of delay charges so that the charge is vented out to the sides.  Allows a greater selection of motors as well as a bit of simulated "saucer attack" blasts (or help signal flares however you view it) as the saucer comes down.  First modified launch resulted in a broken plastic cover, so I started looking for flexible/more durable alternatives.  Search was long and painful (even tried custom rubber molding without success.  Ended up using the same plastic vending machine bubble (but a new one) and adding on a Nerf Mega Dart tip along with a Lego "antenna".  The Nerf tip should help absorb some impact and the antenna is to make it look better and also can be folded forward into "Disintegration Ray" mode. Lots of fun!  Love the bottom paint job too...simple, but great results.

Flight Date: 2015-02-16
Rocket Name: Rocketarium Hexagon (Modified)
Kit Name: Rocketarium - Hexagon {Kit} (RK-HEXAG) [2012-]
Flyer's Name: Ken E. Coyote
Motors: C11-3
Wind Speed: 5.00 mph
Actual Altitude: 70.00 Feet

Modified Hexagon with added upper "alien cockpit".  Worked well.  Stable flight much like unmodified Hexagon first flight, but maybe just a bit less altitude.  Flew pretty much straight up and landed about 20ft forward from pad; however"Cockpit" took some Roswell crash damage since it was 12 degrees F and there was a layer of hard-pack frost on the landing site.  Luckily cockpit bubble is easily replaced (as soon as I get to a kid's prize vending machine).  Interesting note is that saucer flew and landed almost the exact same way/place as the first unmodified flight a few days earlier.
