by Hans "Chris" Michielssen I hate
paper shrouds! I'll never settle for the single shroud provided in a kit.
I'll usually go to my favorite
online shroud generator program.
I always print out extras to end up with one usable shroud. I'll cut out and
pre-form four shrouds. Then, glue the four together and try them over the body tube transition area. I'll pick the best
fitting shroud and throw away the rest.
When printing out a shroud from a shroud generator program, you always end up
with one small shroud printed in the center of the cardstock. To make two from the same page - Fold the extra blank
cardstock under the printed area and tape around the outside edges. Cut through the two layers using the printed shroud
as a guide. Now you have two shrouds to form and pick from.
Many modelers stiffen up a cardstock shroud by covering the outside with CA Super
Glue after gluing it in place. This can leave you with an uneven outside surface. Before gluing the shroud, I'll use
glue coat on the INSIDE surface of the shroud. the outside surface remains smooth.
