NAME: Nathan Galger #65987-0038
TRAINING AND SCHOOLING: Doctorate of space science: Interstellar School Of
Knowledge, Research and development of B. MAD: Breathing Mars' Atmosphere Device, degree in infinite chemistry
LOCATION: Mars Endurance Base *NOTICE: ALL AREAS ACCESS
WHY I'M HERE: My personal friend read a newspaper article stating that
Mars Endurance Base was looking for volunteers interested in a space exploration project. My eyes lit up and my heart
began to pound, it's what I had been seeking out my whole life. I would not need to beg to get the job. Offering my
skills and knowledge will be ample. I knew I wasn't going to find a better volunteer program this side of the Milky
Way. I found the newspaper article he was talking about and immediately wrote to the editor. He forwarded my letter to
the person responsible for M.E.B. Two weeks later I received the mail I had been longing for my entire life. It read:
Welcome aboard!
DUTIES WHILE AT M.E.B.: To search out alien forms of life, including, but
not limited to: plant life, animals, insects, living or non-living. Use any means necessary to gain findings. Samples
of DNA to be collected on location and submitted to headquarters at nightfall. File extensive reports for further
investigation back on planet Earth. Above all, be safe and have fun!!!
FINDINGS: Since my volunteering on the endurance base, I have learned many
interesting things about the "red planet". I came in search of any life forms and I am not willing to return
empty handed. Much to my surprise, Mars sustains a vast number of marine life in its underground waterways. There is
also a number of land roaming creatures I have found which had been previously unseen to humanity.
Apart from popular belief, many forms of life thrive on the conditions that are
present. I have found over 300 forms of marine life that contain chemical healing agents to be of utmost importance to
humankind. I chose to name these agents prestige drugs because of their superiority to commonly known medications.
These microorganisms guarantee to be the medical world's cream of the crop, hands down. Initial tests I ran have shown
an application of one of these remedies to completely rid the body of any and all cancer. I have also shown the drugs
to reverse the aging process in human test subjects. Pharmaceutical companies are probably not going to like to hear
this, but I have discovered the miracle cure. AIDS, cancer, old age, you name it, this is the cure.
I have uncovered a vast network of underground rivers that had been previously
undetected. By using a set of dowsing rods, I found that plenty of water is contained under the surface of the land.
Contained herein are, to my records, over 300 different species of microscopic organisms in a gallon of this red tinted
water. From first glance, the water seems to be nothing out of the ordinary. I collected my samples eagerly, relishing
in the fact I had found water on this seemingly dry planet. When I returned to the base, I immediately viewed my
samples under a high powered microscope. That is where the real fun began. I could hardly believe my eyes. The water
was abundant with life galore. All this was truly amazing, but not comparable to what I was to discover next.
While venturing out into the night to see if I could make any new discoveries, I
was not ready for what was to come. Sure I never thought that I would find water, let alone living organisms. Come to
find out that many of these species had been evolving for millennia. These creatures cover themselves in Mars' dusty
blanket by day, but when night rolls around, they are as numerous as the stars. Previously unseen to humans because
they only come out when the sun is not beating down on the surface. High temperatures have been shown to be deadly to
these creatures. So far I have been running many tests on how they react to light and dark. An interesting thing I
learned was that light makes them dormant. The collected DNA samples I have tested so far are superior to anything I
have ever seen. The strands align in such a fashion, that they look more an art form than a life form. Never did I
think in all my years of studies that I would be the one to discover all of these hidden truths. Beneath the red sand
lies a mountain of mystery, abundant life, evolution, and of course, water! I could hardly sleep for the next week
because of my excitement.
Unfortunately I couldn't stay forever. After I had collected as much amazing data
as I could for a three week period, it was time to go home. I began to cry as I lifted off from this planet of intense
beauty. When I realized how much I would be missed at home I thought, "I'm just glad I was given this once in a
lifetime opportunity." My tears changed from sadness to tears of joy. Because of all the new things I had
uncovered in a period of 21 days, I was most proud of myself. I pray the day will come again when I can return to my
home away from home.
I have enjoyed the time spent on the base. I thank the founders each day for
allowing me access to their facilities. If ever again a chance comes along to volunteer for another tour of duty, I am
absolutely certain that I will be joining the unseen life on the red rock. Until that day comes, I will spend my time
testing my miracle cure and Mars water samples on Earth. I shall try to sustain Mars' microorganic life in my lab back
on Earth. I am absolutely certain that my life has made an unmeasureable change through this awesome opportunity.
